ResearchMy current research is in the area of computer security, with active projects in both mobile agent security and tools for secure operating system configuration and verification. I am director of both the Center for Information and Computer Security (a broad, multi-disciplinary group) and the more tightly focused CoPS (Computer Privacy and Security) Lab. The CoPS Lab is used for both research and teaching — in fact, one of my goals is to get upper level undergraduate students, as well as graduate students, involved in research through their coursework, blurring the usual line between teaching and research. In the past, my main research was in algorithm and data structure design and analysis, as well as a strong interest in data compression. I did work in on-line and dynamic algorithms, and I have also done work in parallel algorithms/circuit theory, robotics, and algorithms for molecular dynamics. Several of my papers are available electronically, with links from my publication list.
