CSCI 5330: Introduction to Data Compression

This page contains material specific to the Spring 1997 CSCI 5330 (section 2) Introduction to Data Compression class taught by Steve Tate in the Department of Computer Sciences at the University of North Texas.

On-Line Information

Some documents are available in both HTML (looks good in a Web browser) and PostScript (looks good on paper). HTML offers very poor facilities for including mathematical expressions, so any handouts that rely heavily on mathematical formulas are available only in PostScript. You will need a PostScript viewer or a PostScript printer in order to use these files (hopefully your Web browser is correctly tied to a PostScript viewer, but if not, then you might have a hard time with these files).

The first thing available is a list of topics covered on each class day. If you miss class, first check here to see what was covered, and what handouts were given.
