The Texas Codeboys competed Sunday, February 24th, in the first round Qualifier for the Challenge 24 Programming contest. They placed 4th and have qualified for the final round in Budapest for the 3rd year in a row. The next closest USA team this year was a team from Johns Hopkins Univ at 123rd place. The top 30 teams qualify for the final round, chosen from over 170 teams that competed in the qualifying round.
The Texas Codeboys remain the only USA team to ever qualify for the final round of this competition in its 8 year history. This was the return of the original Codeboys, John Rizzo, Michael Mohler and Jack Lindamood. The finals are in Budapest in May 2008.
In April, Rizzo, Hector Cuellar and Robert Burke as the Texas Codeboys v2.0 will represent UNT and the South Central region in the ACM World Finals to be held in Banff Springs, Canada.
